This rimless plate depicts the green man, an archetypal forest spirit that wards off evil; found all over Europe and in parts of Asia and North Africa. He's also known as Jack-in-the-Green, Puck and the Old Man of the Woods. The inscription reads, "the face in the forest; the laughter in the leaves". This plate is hump molded with a special undercut foot ring which facilitates wall hanging without extra hardware.
